Three hours in... - June 12th 2010

Three hours into the race and Peugeot No. 2 (Minassian/Montagny/Sarrazin) takes over the lead as Franck Montagny overtakes Marc Gené on lap 3 to move up to second place just before the safety car comes out following Nigel Mansell’s crash.

The safety car ‘lottery’ works well for Peugeot and they gain time when the safety car comes off 30 minutes later. At 16h00 Franck Montagny is first Team Peugeot Total car in, followed a lap later by Pedro Lamy and Marc Gené. The cars remain on the same lap and in that order until just before the first driver change. As Montagny arrives in the pits it becomes clear Pedro Lamy has a problem with car. He makes it to the stands but car No 3’s retirement is announced shortly afterwards with damage to the monocoque caused by a broken front right suspension fixation.

Franck Montagny (Peugeot n°2): “The start is always complicated. You must take it easy
because you have a long way to go, but at the same time it is a race. I felt good in the car and as I was going a little faster I moved up to the lead. I am satisfied with my session.”
